Gary and Cindy’s Apple Pie Recipe

Now here is a recipe that can put any others to shame lol…I am picky about my pies and this I would have to say is the best because its cheap, easy to make and delicious at the same time. The pie pictured above was made with apples that were picked and plucked right from my parents apple tree, but orchard picked or store bought will work well too. This is a simple and quick recipe for a nice family dessert or to take to a holiday party.

What you will need:

Nutmeg, Cinnamon, White Sugar, 10-15 apples ( you can use whatever apples you wish, but I usually use Gala or a similar apple), 2 store bought pie crust ( I usually use the Pillsbury store bought crust that comes in a 2-pack and I usually find it in the refrigerator section at the grocery store, a pie dish, a lemon (optional)

Here is recipe:

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

1 1/2 white sugar

Peel and slice apples and place into a bowl * as a tip*- you can squirt lemon juice over the apples to help them not turn brown before you get into your pie crust*. set apples aside

Mix up dry ingredients (nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar) then pour in the peeled and sliced apples. How many apples you need to slice will be dependent on apples size, but on average it is 10 to 15 apples. Place the sliced and peeled apples into the nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar mixture and stir around until all the apples are covered and set bowl aside.

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees

Take your pie dish and take out your store bought (yes store bought, we are working with little time…right parents! ;0)) and spread one crust into dish for bottom crust, then pour in your apples, apples should be heaping over the top of dish ( like a mound ) and then take other pie crust and spread or roll over top of dish to cover apples ( do not let your pie crusts thaw or get too warm, as they are harder to work with and will rip or tear easier, you want them cool and firm). Slit top of crust to allow steam to escape and crimp and pinch the two pie crust together along sides tightly. Put in oven that should be heated at 350 and cook for approx. 45 or until is a rich golden brown. Pull out, let cool and enjoy!
